Coughing is persisting.what should I take?

I am having cold n cough. My cough persists fr long. Like last time too my cough ie, khasi dint go for almost a month. Now it has cum back. I want it to go. M tired of coughing. N also I had developed tonsils two years back. So I feel it may develop again. How can I avoid it?
