Split personality/Dual personality

Seeing a person with split/dual personality.
Is there any way to help a person with such traits. This person is oscillating between 2 states which are exactly opposite of each other. So, trying to understand how to help such a person with VK.
Any thoughts on why does this happen.?
One state is a depressive state where the person is praising the family members and thanking them for all the support. In the other state, this person is blaming the same family members for the depressive state. In the depressive state, this person is very worried about the children but in the other state, the person is not bothered about the children. Keeps saying that I am doing a lot but is basically doing only for self.
For some background, this person has had a troubled childhood, went into a depressive state after birth of second child and has recently started showing signs of dual personality.
